Greenwood Singers Announces 31st Season

Edmonton, AB – Greenwood Singers, under the direction of its founder and music director Robert de Frece, announces its 2010-2011 Season.  This is the choir’s 31st Season and once again, it will have the choir performing "Choral Music from Renaissance to Broadway" both in the a cappella style and by teaming up with various Edmonton artists.
The Many Moods of Christmas has Greenwood Singers taking to the stage of First Presbyterian Church (10025 105 Street) on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 8:00 PM and will be joined by the University of Alberta Faculty of Education Handbell Ringers.  The program will include motets for Advent and Christmas, arrangements of traditional carols for voice and for handbells and arrangements of popular Christmas songs.  Helen Stuart will join the choir on piano and Jeremy Spurgeon will join the choir on organ.  This concert is proudly presented by Snyder & Associates LLP, Magic 99 and Vue Weekly.  Tickets are $20 for Adults and $18 for Students/Seniors and are available from TIX on the Square (9930 102 Avenue) 780.420.1757 or www.tixonthesquare.ca, choir members and at the door.

Greenwood Singers presents Songs from the Heart on Friday, April 15, 2011 at All Saints' Anglican Cathedral (10035 103 Street) at 8:00 PM.  The evening’s program will span a wide range of music, from Renaissance to Broadway, all on the theme of love.  The program will include motets and madrigals from the Renaissance, Romantic part songs, and contemporary sacred and secular works.  The program will conclude with "Gershwin & Porter on Love", a medley of well-known love songs by George Gershwin and Cole Porter.  This concert is proudly presented by Snyder & Associates LLP, Magic 99 and Vue Weekly.  Tickets are $20 for Adults and $18 for Students/Seniors and are available from TIX on the Square (9930 102 Avenue) 780.420.1757 or www.tixonthesquare.ca, choir members and at the door.

As well, Greenwood Singers will once again share its musical talents for the reflective Hymns and Readings for Christmas on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Basilica (10044 113 Street) at 7:30 PM.  This evening is sponsored by St. Joseph’s College – the Catholic-affiliated College at the University of Alberta – and has become an annual event for Greenwood Singers.  Tickets are $10 and are available from St. Joseph’s College, by calling 780.492.7681 ext. 231 and at the door.
