Setmana Cantant Tarragona 2011

We are pleased to inform you that we have started working on the sixth edition of the Setmana Cantant Tarragona 2011, under the musical direction of Josep Prats and within the framework of the festivals of the Catalan Federation of Choral Associations (FCEC) and the European Federation Europa Cantat.

The Singing Week will be held in Tarragona, July 16—24, 2011.The Workshops

All workshops will take place during the mornings. There will be 3 workshops varied enough at musical and stylistic level, with capacity for about 100 singers in each workshop. There will be a fourth communal workshop that will be offered as closing concert.
  • The 'teacher-composer' and his work: Johan Duijck (Belgium)
  • New colors for feminine choir: Basilio Astúlez (Basque Country) 
  • Latin American folklore: Hugo de la Vega (Argentina) and Francisco Simaldoni (Uruguay)

Communal singing director: Edmon Colomer (Catalonia):
  • Symphony nº 2, Lobgesang, by F. Mendelssohn (orchestra, soloists and mixted choir)
  • Ein Sommernachtstraum, op.21 by F. Mendelssohn (orchestra soloists and choir of children’s voices)
  • Gesang der Geister über den Wasserns, of- 714, by F. Schubert (string orchestra and low voices)

Choirs already registered include:
  • Cor Ciutat de Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain)
  • Coro de la Universidad de la República (Montevideo, Uruguay)
  • Gent Madrigalkoor (Ghent, Belgium)
  • Grupo Magüey (Córdoba, Argentina)
  • Vocalia Taldea (Basque Country)
