Announcing Le Choeur des jeunes 2011

A project of the Liette Turner Foundation in collaboration with the Alliance des chorales du Québec

This program provides a unique opportunity for young singers between the ages of 18 and 25 from across Québec to be members in the Chœur des jeunes du Québec and the National Youth Choir of Canada. Over three weekends, from March to May 2011, they will have the opportunity to:
  • Work with an exceptional choral conductor
  • Take voice lessons and master classes with respected voice teachers
  • Rehearse and sing the finest choral repertoire in a gala concert
  • Receive a certificate of accreditation as a participant in the Chœur des jeunes 2011
Twenty talented young singers will be selected by audition to take part in this exciting program. The choir members of Chœur des jeunes (CDJ) 2011 will spend ten memorable days together under the leadership of acclaimed conductor Pierre Barrette.
They will rehearse on the campus of the Collège Jean de la Mennais in La Prairie, on the Montreal South Shore, where the experience will culminate in the annual Benefit Gala Concert. The singers will be challenged with exciting repertoire and a rigorous enriched curriculum. Each day combines rehearsals, sectional rehearsals, and private vocal lessons with social events and activities to create an exceptional musical experience.
The CDJ 2011 program takes place on three weekends from:

  • Friday, March 25 to Sunday, March 27
  • Friday, April 15 to Sunday, April 17
  • Thursday, May 14 to Saturday, May 16.
The Benefit Concert for the Liette Turner Foundation will be on May 14, 2011 in the Église de la Nativité in La Prairie, known for its traditional beauty and fine acoustics.

To be eligible for the program a singer must be:
  • born between May 14, 1987 and March 25, 1995 inclusive, and
  • belong to a choir that is a member of the Alliance des chorales du Québec
