Choral Concert to Highlight Finalists in the National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs

On Sunday, April 4, Peter Togni, host of CBC 2's Choral Concert heard from 9:00–11:00 am, will start the count down to the National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs, sponsored this year by the Association of Canadian Choral Communities. The finalists in all 12 categories have been announced and over the next 7 weeks Choral Concert will be highlighting as many of these choirs as possible.
The first choir to be featured will be the University of Saskatchewan Greystone Singers, finalists in the Mixed Voice Collegiate Choirs category. See Finalists for a complete listing of participating choirs.

Sunday's program also features a special Easter broadcast of Bach's B Minor Mass performed by the Ensemble Caprice directed by Matthias Maute. This original and unique performance defines a new and innovative way of thinking about this iconic cornerstone of the choral repertoire that is sparse, energetic, gritty, unforgiving in its intensity, and in the end, deeply moving.
