200 ans et jamais démodés, un hommage à Chopin et Schuman

De retour de sa tournée réussie en Italie, le groupe Ewashko Singers est ravi de vous inviter à vous joindre à eux pour commémorer le bicentenaire des naissances de Frédéric Chopin et Robert Schuman. Ce concert qui mettra en valeur les œuvres de ces deux grands de la période romantique aura lieu samedi le 23 octobre prochain à 19 h 30, à la First Unitarian Church Congregation d’Ottawa, située au 30, avenue Cleary.

Vancouver Chamber Choir: NOVA Rising Choral Stars

Choral music is a very dynamic field, with hundreds of unsung heroes - young or little known choral composers from all around the world who are creating the next generation of wonderful choral pieces.

For the first half of this concert conductor Jon Washburn has chosen seven talented rising composers which he thinks you will want to know. They are Damijan Močnik (Slovenia), Ivo Antognini (Switzerland), Timothy Corlis (Canada), Evgeny Shcherbakov (Canada), Fredrik Sixten (Sweden), Jaakko Mäntyjärvi (Finland), and David MacIntyre (Canada).

Pax Christi Chorale presents Faure Requiem

In the opening concert of our 24th season, guest conductor Stéphane Potvin will lead Pax Christi Chorale and Pax Christi Youth Choir in a performance of the Fauré Requiem on Sunday, October 24, 2010 - 3:00 pm, at Grace Church on-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale Rd, Toronto. Our guest soloists will be Canadian soprano Teri Dunn and baritone Michael Robert-Broder. The program will also include additional works by Samuel Sebastian Wesley in celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth. Teri Dunn will perform the beautiful “Les Angélus” (The Angelus Bells) by Louis Vierne.

The Vancouver Chamber Choir encourages young composers (ages 8-22) to submit applications to the 10th Biennial Young Composers’ Competition. It is an opportunity to compose for Canada's premiere choir, have the composition performed in the choir’s concert series, and receive a cash award!

Music Conference Alberta November 4–6, 2010, Red Deer

Music Conference Alberta includes sessions designed for elementary music teachers, choral conductors, band directors, and studio instructors.  It provides an opportunity for musicians and music educators from across the province to attend workshop sessions, concerts, masterclasses, and social events. The conference is host to a large trade fair which includes more than 40 exhibitors annually. In addition, Alberta’s music education awards are presented at the MCA delegate luncheon.
