Choral Workshop with Latvian Conductor Ints Teterovskis

St. John’s Latvian Vocal Ensemble is pleased to sponsor our second three-day choral workshop with Latvian choral conductor Ints Teterovskis. Registration for the workshop will follow an application process to ensure a balance of voices.  We invite both choral singers and conductors to join us and encourage you to register early as space is limited!  Registration fee for all participants - $70.  Deadline January 21, 2011.  The workshop and mini-concert will both take place at St. John’s Latvian Lutheran Church, 200 Balmoral Ave, Toronto.
Ints Teterovskis is increasingly in demand as a choral workshop clinician and guest conductor abroad, and has led choral workshops for the New York Latvian Choir in America (2000, 2003, 2007, 2009) and St. John's Latvian Church in Toronto (2010) and coached students of the International Masterclasses for Young Musicians in Ogre, Latvia.

Ints has been Artistic Director and Conductor of the Latvian youth choir "Balsis” since 1998.  He has worked as a project manager for “Latvijas Koncerti” and the Riga City Council’s Department of Culture, where he is currently the head of strategic development.  He was the conductor of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Music Academy’s Chamber Choir (2005-2009).  He founded and led the Salaspils youth choir “Tiade” (1994 – 2005) and was conductor of the Latvian Medical Academy’s youth choir “Riga” (1998 – 2003). In addition to an active conducting career, Ints is a professional singer with the men’s group of the Riga Dom Cathedral Boys’ Choir.  Ints will be the guest conductor for Pax Christi Chorale's concert in Toronto on April 17, 2011.

This workshop will explore a wide range of sacred and secular repertoire by Baltic and international composers.  A complete list of repertoire is listed below.  The cost of ordering music scores is included in the registration fee and will be provided for you in advance of the workshop.

Workshop Repertoire

The workshop registration fee includes the music which we will order and provide to you in advance of the workshop.  All pieces will be sent to you as scanned PDF files once you have registered so that you can start learning the music.  We will also provide phonetic notes for the work by Gunnar Eriksson and an MP3 file of the Latvian pronunciation for the work by Garūta.   In order for Mr. Teterovskis to have the maximum amount of time to work with us vocally and musically, this repertoire must be learned in advance.

We invite anyone who is interested in rehearsing with the St. John’s Vocal Ensemble to join us on Saturday, February 5 and 12.  The time will be confirmed, but will be late morning / early afternoon.
