Tallis Scholars Summer School * July 23 - 30, 2011 * Seattle, Washington

Why not consider joining the Tallis Scholars for a week sight-singing Renaissance masterpieces, rehearsing with the world's finest polyphony specialists, and performing Renaissance polyphony under Peter Phillips?

This summer, singers will have the opportunity to perform Tallis' Spem in Alium, an epic choral work for 40 parts. Detailed course information and links are below.  All course information and applications are available at www.tsss.uk.com
Course Instructors:

  • David Woodcock, associate TSSS director and Tallis Scholar baritone 
  • Jan Coxwell, associate TSSS director and Tallis Scholar soprano 
  • Deborah Roberts, Tallis Scholar soprano
Who Comes to TSSS: Enthusiastic singers aged 18 and over with strong sight-reading skills. Professional musicians, dedicated amateurs, and college/graduate students. Attendees come from all over the world and share a passion for polyphony and choral singing.


A Week at TSSS USA:
  • An intense immersion course into both sight-reading and performance practice of Renaissance polyphony. 
  • Varied choral experience of full choir work with Peter Phillips, smaller ensemble work with members of the Tallis Scholars, and small group performance on participant chosen repertoire. 
  • Small group masterclass with Peter Phillips and Tallis Scholars.
  • Lectures giving context to the music being studied as well as talks giving participants a view into the lives and performance experiences of the Tallis Scholars.
  • Private voice instruction from Tallis Scholar tutors.

Course Tuition
Standard Tuition: $1550 (Student: $995)
Standard fees include 7 nights lodging, all meals, sheet music, private voice lesson, Tallis Scholar/Tudor Choir opening concert admission, and closing Gala party.

Commuter Fee: $1100 (Student: $850)
Commuter feels include all lunches and dinners, sheet music, private voice lesson, Tallis Scholar/Tudor Choir opening concert admission, and closing Gala party.

Scholarships:
Partial scholarships are available and based on need with priority given to those pursuing music as a career.
