Winnipeg’s Camerata Nova in Concert
This week on Choral Concert it’s about Chant in all its forms. Our concert feature is Winnipeg’s Camerata Nova and their program called Chant!
Chant describes any type of music that uses a single line melody as its basis. Everyone has heard of Gregorian Chant, but there are hundreds of other forms of chant around the world - and it is safe to say that most music has its foundation in a single, melodic line.
This Sunday’s Choral Concert features the Winnipeg based choir Camerata Nova and their program called Chant! It’s a concert of vocal chants rooted in Persia, Corsica, Norway, Italy, France and the Ukraine to name just a few.
You’ll also hear a wonderful performance with the Corydon Singers doing Maurice Durufle’s Requiem. A piece based entirely on Gregorian Chant.
Go to CBCMUSIC.CA and check out the new choral stream!!!! A 24/7 collection of a wide choral gems from J.S. Bach to John Rutter. Perfect programming for choral music lovers performed by some of our greatest choirs like the Elmer Iseler Singers, The Elora Festival Singers and Musica Intima.
