Reminder - NewWorks deadline - February 18th

This is a reminder that the deadline for DaCapo Chamber Choir's 4th annual, national choral composition competition, NewWorks, is fast approaching.  All entries must be postmarked February 18th, or earlier - only one month away!
Full information - including entry form - is available on our web site:  www.dacapochamberchoir,ca/newworks .

The purpose of the NewWorks competition is to foster new and engaging choral works by Canadian composers.  The DaCapo Chamber Choir was founded in 1998 and is dedicated to exploring unaccompanied music, primarily of the 20th Century and later. We are continually looking for new pieces to perform which will challenge us and our audiences - both musically and emotionally.

We have thrilled with the entries over the last three years; this November, we performed last year’s winning entry, "Song of Invocation" by Sheldon Rose (Toronto, ON).  In the spring, we will be hosting a public workshop featuring three winners of our Young Composers Reading Sessions, where their compositions will be read by the choir. Composers will have opportunity to interact with the conductor and choristers in an effort to continue to refine their compositional craft.

The 2013 winning entry will receive a $1,500 cash award plus travel expenses to Kitchener to attend
the premiere of his/her composition by the DaCapo Chamber Choir, under director Leonard Enns, in the choir’s 2013/2014 season.  We are also inviting young composers (aged 25 and younger) to submit compositions for consideration in our Young Composers Reading Sessions.
Entry deadline is February 18th, 2013.
