Vancouver Chamber Choir 40th Anniversary Season Launch

Great Choral Music, 8 pm Friday, September 24, 2010
Ryerson United Church (2195 West 45th Avenue at Yew Street, Vancouver)

The Vancouver Chamber Choir’s 40th anniversary season opens with a concert of music from some of the greatest choral masters of all time. From Palestrina, the greatest Italian Renaissance composer of sacred music, one of his most famous pieces - the Mass for Pope Marcellus.

We mark the centennial of 20th century American great Samuel Barber with his signature choral work Reincarnations. Then conductor John William Trotter and the Choir are joined by pianist Terence Dawson for Béla Bartók’s poignant Slovak Folk Songs and a set of vivacious Gypsy Songs by Johannes Brahms.
Artistic Director Jon Washburn will give a pre-concert talk at 7:30pm in celebration of the Choir's 40th anniversary.

Giovanni P. da Palestrina - Missa Papae Marcelli
Samuel Barber – Reincarnations
Béla Bartók - Four Slovak Folk Songs
Johannes Brahms - Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs)

Tickets to MUSIC OF THE MASTERS are $24.50 - $28 and available at Ticketmaster. Rush tickets are available for $10 at the door one hour before the concert for youth under 26 and students (valid ID required for both). Visit to purchase online or phone 604-280-3311.
