From MusicFest Vancouver: Ludus Modalis in Concert
For our thanksgiving day program Peter Togni brings you “Ludus Modalis”, a french choir that focuses on the renaissance and early baroque periods. Their program “Sacred and Profane Love” fits in beautifully with thanksgiving as it is a time we give thanks for those we love in a celebration that has both sacred and secular elements. “Ludus Modalis” pays particular attention to pronunciation and true intonation, and the 5 members of the choir that perform in this concert create a beautiful “sonic bloom”.
You will also hear thanksgiving music the way Bach created it, and a taste of a brand new disc from the Belle Canto choir based in Edmonton, in their take on Eleanor Daley’s “The Lake Isle of Innisfree”.
