Les Voix Baroque and Skye Consort present “Love, Death and the lady”
This Sunday on Choral Concert Peter Togni brings you a concert from the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival called “Love, Death and the Lady”. Back in the 16th century it was popular for the male poets and artists of the time to link the feminine with death. A strange association to our modern minds, but the justification of the time was that it encouraged more virtue. Nevertheless it certainly inspired some beautiful music, and you will hear everything from John Dowland to Orlando de Lassus in a collection of absolutely stunning performances.
You will also hear some new cuts from the latest ECM release of the million copy selling combination of Jan Garbareck and the Hilliard Ensemble, it’s called “Officium Novum”.
Finally, a truly glorious collection of new choral works from the Polish film composer Zbigniew Preisner.
