St. John’s Latvian Vocal Ensemble is pleased to sponsor a three-day choral workshop with Latvian choral conductor, Ints Teterovskis
who holds a Master’s degree in Conducting and Music Education from the Latvian Academy of Music (2001) and is currently a project manager with “Latvijas Koncerti”.
He conducts the Latvian Music Academy’s Chamber Choir and the Latvian youth choir “Balsis” which participated in the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Hamilton in July 2009, in addition to giving a concert at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church in Toronto. He is also a professional singer with the Riga Dome Cathedral Boys’ Choir.
The workshop will explore a wide range of sacred repertoire, from early music to contemporary works by international and Latvian composers. Music will be distributed to registrants in advance of the workshop which will run Friday evening, all day Saturday and conclude with a mini-concert at 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. Proceeds from the mini-concert will go to the Churches-on-the- Hill Food Bank.
Registration for the workshop will follow an application process to ensure a balance of voices. We invite choral singers, conductors, and auditors to join us. The registration fee, which includes all music and lunch on Saturday, is $70 for all participants.
