1st "Heart of Europe" Choir Competition

A new international competition for all types of choirs will be held in Gelnhausen (the German city at the geographical hotspot of the European Union), August 12–15, 2010.
The jury-board consists of 5 selected members: Robert Sund (Sweden), Vytautas Miskinis (Lithuania), Karmina Silec (Slovenia), Dr. Roy Wales (England) and Willy Trageser (Germany).

Choirs of all all ages and genres from all over the world whose members don't gain their livelihood through professional singing or educating are eligible to participate. Conductors and instrumentalists are the exception to the rule, also singers involved as students of music.

Each choir may participate in one or two of the following categories: Sacred, Secular, Contemporary and Folklore. 

The participation fee (65 € per person) includes the airport transfers, one meal per day (in addition to breakfast which is included in the accommodation fee), all admissions for festival, workshops and meeting-concerts as well as the newly provided city tour guided through the historical center of Gelnhausen.

Choirs will benefit from 20.000,00 € in prize money, and be involved in some exciting support events (meeting and gala concerts, ceremonies, choir parties and workshops as well as live music and guided city tours). All these opportunities brought together in the historical ambiance of Gelnhausen, as the geographical center of Europe, mean really perfect conditions for spending some excellent days filled with the spirit of remarkable choral experiences! In the "Heart of Europe" also means perfect travel conditions with simple traffic connections and quick access, for instance the Frankfurt/Main airport.
