It’s 2010! The Countdown to Podium Begins!

Podium 2010–Canada’s Choral Conference launches on Thursday, May 19, 2010!
With less than six months to go, the activity is heating up for the Saskatchewan Organizing Committee as they prepare to host you at Podium 2010: Experience the Harmony : L'harmonie, une expérience à vivre in beautiful Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
With 3 HighLight Concerts, 7 SpotLight Concerts, 18 Presenters and 40+ Sessions, Podium truly is Canada’s Choral Conference. A co-production of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities (ACCC) and the host province, Podium is THE place to stay in touch with what’s happening chorally across Canada.
This year, to meet the ACCC’s expanded mandate to support choirs, choristers, composers and industry in addition to the traditional support provided to conductors, the Podium program has been expanded. In 2010, choristers, conductors, composers and administrators can register for sessions on Deepening the Mind-Body Connection in Singing, French Diction, Writing for the Choir, Building a Male Choir in an SATB Town, Developing Tone by Choosing the Right Repertoire, ‘WOW-ing’ Your Audience, Lift Up Your Voice: The Gospel Experience and Technology for the 21st Century Choir, just to name a few. Between sessions, delegates are invited to attend the MarketPlace Trade Show for a light refreshment and to check out the very best in industry offerings. There’s something at Podium 2010 for everyone!
As in previous years, special member rates are available for ACCC members with additional early-bird savings for registrations received by February 15, 2010.  With ACCC’s expanded mandate and inclusion of choirs who are members of their own provincial choral organization (PCO) as associate members of ACCC, this special registration rate is also available to delegates from PCO member choirs.  Student and single day/single session rates are also available.
An exciting new program offered at Podium 2010 will be the ‘Focus on Youth’ promotion available to music educators who bring groups of 12 or more middle years or high school students to Podium on Saturday.  For $40 per student, these young musicians will be able to attend a workshop with Brian Tate and three SpotLight concerts featuring seven fantastic choirs as well as enjoy a bag lunch in the park!  We are really excited to be able to share the quality and magnitude of the Canadian Choral Scene with these future conductors, composers and choristers.
