Harmonia Choir of Ottawa, presents its final concert of the season, Canada Sings on Sunday May 16th, 2010, at 4 pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, 2345 Alta Vista Drive. The performance will be directed by Kurt Ala-Kantti.
Music from coast to coast (to coast!) will be presented, ranging from new works to favourite folk song arrangements. The choir will also present the finalists from its Canadian Choral Composition Competition.
We always are so pleased to have the opportunity to be the first to present new music, says Harmonia Director, Kurt Ala-Kantti. However, it is a special thrill to be invited to perform some new works by one of Canada's foremost composers Howard Cable, himself!
Mr. Cable referred to the choir as a "fabulous chorus" at a concert he attended last fall, and offered the choir some of his recent unpublished works.
Tickets are $15 or $10 for seniors and students (free for children and youth), and will be available at the door, or at Leading Note, 370 Elgin St., corner of Elgin and Frank and Compact Music, 785 1/2 Bank Street in the Glebe.
