Kaleid Choral Festival 2010: April 30—May 2, Ottawa

The Kaleid Choral Festival enriches, energizes and inspires community choral artists of all ages and levels of experience!  Our Kaleidoscope of Voices celebrates community and choral art through workshops and performances in a non-competitive festival environment. Join us for our 5th anniversary Kaleidoscope of Voices featuring Finland's a cappella sensation, Rajaton, at Dominion Chalmers United Church, 335 Cooper Street at O'Connor. For information on workshops and performances contact the Ottawa Children's Choir: info@ottawachildrenschoir.ca
Youth from across Ontario have the unique opportunity to come together to sing in workshops and performances, facilitated by Ottawa Children’s Choir Artistic Director Jackie Hawley, and Guest Clinician Jennifer Moir, culminating in an evening concert in which participants perform with acclaimed artists-in-residence.  Eclectic programs by local ensembles as well as featured performances by the dynamic guest artists create concerts of wide public appeal and inspiration.

We are thrilled to announce that RAJATON, the six-voice a cappella singing sensation from Helsinki, Finland will be the Kaleid 2010 artists-in-residence, offering participants across the province the opportunity to work and sing with these incredible artists!.  Join us as we celebrate our 5th Anniversary in style!

The Finnish word Rajaton translates as "boundless" – a word that so accurately describes the way this six voice a cappella ensemble approaches music. Rajaton exposes audiences to the kind of diversity of repertoire, singing style, and stage presentation that has made them a phenomenon on the world stage.
Performing at concert halls, churches, jazz and choral festivals, this distinct group of musicians approach all styles of music with the same level of commitment and integrity, making it difficult to imagine an audience that Rajaton could not inspire, or a type of music Rajaton could not make it’s own. But it is perhaps their deep passion for choral art, their generosity of spirit and their sheer enjoyment of singing that has won the hearts and acclaim of audiences and critics everywhere. Their energy – infectious; their ability to entertain and inspire - Rajaton!

The voice is boundless!
