With a theme of joy and thanksgiving, we will be presenting a delightful evening of music that combines Eastern and Western sacred works with music from the Old World and the New. The most intimate of Haydn’s masses, the Kleine orgelmesse, or “Little Organ Mass,” interspersed with Slavic hymns by Tchaikovsky, Kalinnikov and Korsakov, opens the program.
Conducted by Laurence Ewashko, this choral feast also includes some rarely heard gems of exquisite beauty, and features works by the well-known Canadian composers Eleanor Daley, Paul Halley, Imant Raminsh, Rowland Pack, and Stephen Hatfield.
