Music for a Summer Evening Choral Concert

Join us for an uplifting evening of song as Calgary’s acclaimed Cantaré Children’s Choir, under the direction of Catherine Glaser-Climie, presents choral treasures old and new from their large and varied repertoire. The program will include Bach’s beloved “We will ich mich freuen” and Brewbaker’s thought-provoking “birdsongs.”

The concert will take place on Wednesday, July 7 at 7:30 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church (2345 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa). Admission is free and all ages are welcome.
Cantaré Children’s Choir, Calgary, Alberta will travel to Ottawa, Ontario from July 2 through 9, 2010. We are delighted to have been invited to sing for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, at a private event at Rideau Hall. In addition, the choristers will sing during service at Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday, July 4th at 10:30 am and for seniors in the community.

Established in 1997, Cantaré Children’s Choir continues to enrich the lives of young singers through the masterful guidance of Catherine Glaser-Climie, Founder/Artistic Director. Cantaré is an active member of the Calgary arts community. In addition to their own concert series, this award-winning choir regularly performs with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Calgary Civic Symphony and is honored to have performed for many prestigious events including Calgary Opera, Festival Chorus, Grammy-award-winner Bob Carlisle, and the Banff International Television Festival.

Cantaré Children’s Choir is dedicated to providing children with extraordinary choral music experiences through excellence in performance, outstanding music education, serving the community through song, and touring. Touring is an important part of Cantaré’s program. The choir has travelled throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. In July 2006, Cantaré traveled to Italy, presenting concerts in historic venues throughout the country, including Sunday Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. Most recently, 47 of our senior choristers explored the richness of the Baroque masters as they performed and travelled throughout Germany in July 2009.
